Our journey began with a handful of like-minded individuals determined to share their passion with others and continue broadening their knowledge. Over the years, our group has flourished, expanding our reach and impact through educational programs, community outreach initiatives, and collaborative projects.

Welcome! I am so excited to greet you as we embark on another season of growing, learning, and connection.

At Squamish Gardeners, we're more than a club – we're a tight-knit community united by our passion for gardening and our dedication to environmental stewardship. Through collaboration and education, we're cultivating a greener, more vibrant world, one plant at a time.

In the coming months, our club will continue to blossom with exciting events, educational speakers, and collaborative projects aimed at nurturing both our gardens and our connections with one another. From community clean-up efforts to our annual plant sale, every endeavor we undertake is a testament to our shared values and collective impact.

    If you are unsure about being a member for a yearly fee of $20, you are more than welcome to attend a single meeting for a fee of $5. Check out our calendar page for details on our next meeting!

Derek Churchill

Join us Monday, October 19 at 7 pm (Sandman Hotel) for an evening with Derek Churchill, where he’ll explore the fundamentals of pruning: why we prune, types of pruning cuts, timing, and how plants respond.

Derek is a Red Seal Landscape Horticulturist with over 20 years of experience and a former ISA Certified Arborist with Tree Risk Assessment Qualification. He has spent more than five years teaching landscape horticulture apprenticeship programs through Burnaby Community and Continuing Education and UBC Botanical Garden.

He currently serves as Vegetation Specialist for Flex MSE, consulting on vegetative retaining walls built around the world. His speaking experience includes the BC Home and Garden Show, the BC Society of Landscape Architects’ Annual Conference, the Vancouver Master Gardener Association, and Douglas College’s “Trees for a Changing World” event.

Derek will address common pruning mistakes and bring the principles together through a practical case study, with time for questions and discussion.

Our first #fall #fieldtrip was nothing short of #spectacular! Over a dozen of our #gardenclub members had an amazing tour at @bloomandbreezefarm in the upper Squamish valley. Paula graciously showed us around her #flowerfarm including seedling & seed #dahlia beds, #lavender beds, a u-pick #flower stand, all sorts of cutting flower beds including, #zinnias , #strawflowers , #amaranth , #eucalyptus & many other #beautiful floral varieties & of course #dahlias. We also had a special tour of her #secretgarden in the #rainforest & in the end a couple of us enjoyed a u-pick #bouquet. Definitely worth a visit to pick a custom bouquet right in our own backyard at @bloomandbreezefarm !
